Dagnija Baltina

Mrs Baltina will talk about the Library of the future – Will there be libraries in a hundred years? And what sort of libraries, what will they contain and how can we prepare for the future? – Today? Dagnija Baltina will talk about how the Libraries today forms the Libraries of tomorrow.
From 2008 until 2016 she served as the Secretary General at the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO and from 2009-2011 also represented the Republic of Latvia at the UNESCO Executive Board being elected its Vice-President. In 2016 she joined the National Library of Latvia as the Director of Special Collections. Since 2024 she is the Director of the National Library of Latvia.
Martin Paul Eve

What is it about scholarship that makes so-called ”open-access” possible? Why is it different to other forms of publishing dissemination? And how are the current economic models for OA demolishing a set of the principles upon which its advocates rested? In this talk, Professor Martin Paul Eve will explore these histories and speak about the evolution of collective, equitable funding models for open access.
Martin Paul Eve is the technical lead for Knowledge Commons at Michigan State University and the Professor of Literature, Technology and Publishing at the University of London’s Birkbeck College. He is well known for his work on open access and scholarly communications and is a founder of the Open Library of Humanities.
